Hooray For The Potty!!

So we had a pretty fun extended weekend. Saturday night we had a barbeque with some friends; Sunday we just relaxed and had fun with one another; Monday Robbie went fishing with some friends and I hung out with the girls and we had a barbeque that night as well, but just with ourselves. The best part about it all is...

Gwen is officially potty trained!! (and during this post I've had to stop twice to put her on the potty...she seems to not be able to tinkle and poo in the same visit...she waits for a few minutes in between). She has been using the potty for two weeks now and even tells us when she has to use the potty. She even makes it through the night without having any accidents. She is out of diapers/training pants for good!! Gwen goes to the bathroom without any help too. She pushes her "potty stool" around to turn on the light and get on the potty, takes everything off, goes pee, wipes (with supervision...she's still having issues with wiping her bum really well) then puts everything back on and washes her hands...all by herself!! It's taken over a year (with many breaks due to frustration) but she finally decided she wanted to do it and when she did it took 2 weeks!! I'm so proud of my little peanut, and she's proud of herself too. This past weekend Rob was relaxing on the couch and she came up to him and said "Look Daddy!" She pulled down her pants and said "I'm wearing polka dot underwear!!" and showed off her underwear. She did the same thing to her Uncle Matt when he stopped by. Such a big girl.

Now it's Gracie's turn to potty train. I know that she's not quite 2 yet, and they tell you to at least wait till they're 2, but she wants to use the potty and she's so interested in it that I'm not going to wait (plus, how awesome would it be to have both of them potty trained and not have to buy so many diapers?). Every time that Gwen goes potty Grace has to use the potty too or she gets mad. She also has to use the big potty with the special "princess" seat like Gwen-she refuses to use our little training potty. She gets mad too when I don't let her wear training pants instead of a diaper but since she doesn't really have the hang of things yet and is peeing herself more than peeing in the potty, she still uses diapers mostly. On Monday I'm really going to start working on potty training her and hopefully she'll follow her sisters lead on this like she did with everything else (crawling, walking, talking...) and potty train quick.

Georgia is now eating cereal!! I've heard from a lot of people now that doctors and the American Academy of Pediatrics (I think that's what they're called) have recommended not feeding them any solids until 6 months, but my doctor said it was all right, and since I started feeding the two older girls rice cereal at 4 months, I decided to go ahead with Georgia. She's 4 1/2 months now, but she's not picking it up as well as Gwen and Grace did. Within a week of starting cereal with them, they both had it down and were eating it without any problem. I have been doing this with Georgia since Sunday, and she is having a hard time with it. She spits it out, drools it out, plays with it with her tounge and then spits it out...she gets very little of it into her stomach. I don't know why it's been so hard for her but she's not taking to it very well (she even blew raspberries over and over again while I was trying to feed it to her and spit it out that way). Hopefully as I keep trying she will get the hang of it soon.

They are all getting so big!! Gwen and Grace are both so very close to moving up to the next size clothes (Gwen to a 4T and Grace to a 3T) and Georgia is just getting so big so fast!! We got our little kiddie pool out of storage 2 weeks ago and the girls have had so much fun with that. I just sit there and remember them swimming in it last year, and how they wouldn't really get in the water last year and this year they do (Gwen wants to learn how to swim). And last year I only had two kids in the pool...this year I have three (well, I just hold Georgia on the edge of the pool and let her stick her feet in). It's amazing how fast they grow and I am so greatful for all the fun we've been having as the question of what we're going to do in 2 months looms over Rob and I (he's still applying for jobs, but so far...nothing). Who knows where we will be this time next year, but by that time I will have a 4 year old in preschool, one who will be almost 3, and one who will almost be 18 months. Crazy!!
