Grace Turns 6!!

Wow I can't believe Grace is 6 now!!  Here's a few pictures from her fun filled birthday.

First thing in the morning on her birthday-she's getting so big!!

We went swimming at our ward's summer party that evening, and instead of having cake, Grace asked for ice cream.  So we sang happy birthday to her over her blizzard.

Opening some presents-this girl loves Hello Kitty so much!!

Her new outfit!

Grace really seemed to have a fun day playing with her sisters, swimming, and just relaxing and snuggling with mommy and daddy.  Happy Birthday Gracie girl!!

Genni's Love Of Ice Cream

Rob and I were having some Ben & Jerry's one night, and Genesis crawled over and started begging for some as well.  So I picked her up and set her on my lap and started feeding her little bites with my spoon.  Apparently those little bites just were not enough for her because...

...pretty soon I had cute little baby fingers in my ice cream, that slowly made their way...

...to her mouth and then back into the ice cream again.  That worked for her for a little while, but I guess she started to get impatient with how little she was getting with her fingers.

Quick as can be, she grabbed the ice cream container and started licking it out.  I was laughing so hard at that point that I didn't stop her, and she eventually got her fill.

Ice cream is one of this girls favorite things to eat!!

New Car

While visiting Pittsburgh, Rob took the opportunity to go to a Pittsburgh Pirate's baseball game.  He had a blast at the game, but the drive home back to my grandparents wasn't such a great event for him.  On the way home, another man who was driving drunk while returning home from the same baseball game Rob had been at, hit Rob and totaled our van that we had only had for about 2 years.

Thankfully Rob came out of it ok, but we ended up having to rent a vehicle to get ourselves home to Texas.  It took us another 2 weeks after returning home to find a new car (and Rob is still going through chiropractic appointments and steroid injections into his back, and we are still dealing with the other man's insurance).  We love our new van though!!

Hammerhead

Now for a quick joke from Georgia (made shortly after our return from vacation):

"I'm a hammerhead shark!  Get it? Hammer-and head?  Hahahahaha!!"

Love this silly girl!!

Carnegie Museum Of Natural History

One of the fun things we got to do while we were in Pittsburgh was a visit to the Carnegie Museum of Natural History.  My parents and grandparents would take me and my siblings there when we would go visit Gigi and Pappy and we always loved it.  So Rob and I thought it would be a great idea to take the girls to the museum as well.

It was a blast!!  They enjoyed all the exhibits-even the architecture one Rob wanted to see.  This visit was really special to Gwen though.  She has always had a huge interest in dinosaurs, so the dinosaur exhibit was amazing for her.  Before we entered the area with all the bones, there is a room with a huge window (you can see it behind Gwen in the photo below) where the paleontologists do their work and you can watch them.  Gwen was so thrilled to see this, and it just strengthened her desire to work hard to be a paleontologist.

They all had a lot of fun looking at the dinosaur bones (Gwen was pretending to look scared in her picture).

They had an awesome interactive area where they gave the kids goggles and real equipment that a paleontologist would use and they let the kids dig for their own dinosaur bones.  The girls loved that area and didn't want to leave, especially Gwen.

They had other fun things as well...animal exhibits, gemstones, an elevator to the center of the earth, a bug exhibit, mummies, and so many other awesome things that the girls just loved.  I was even able to get Grace and Gwen to sit in front of the giant alligator replicas, though Grace was pretty hesitant about it, and Georgia flat out refused.

The girls really liked the x-ray table as well, where they had a whole lot of different x-rays of all the different bones in the human body.  Gwen had to show us the x-ray of an arm, and point out the spot on the elbow where she had broken her own arm.

It was so much fun taking our kids to a place that I had always enjoyed as a child, and getting to relive so many wonderful memories that I have.  Hopefully we will be able to go back sometime soon, and I look forward to visiting other places that Rob and I have been to in the past and share in the joy and excitement of our own children experiencing and making memories in places that he and I love so much.

Our Time In Pittsburgh

Our last stop on vacation was Pittsburgh, PA, to spend time with my grandparents and other family.  We were so excited to see them because we hadn't seen them in about 2 years.  It was so nice to see everyone, and especially for the girls to spend time with their extended family and their great grandparents.  We even got to spend a few extra days with them!!  We had so much fun there and can't wait to see everyone again!!  Here are some pictures from our visit there.

Have I got something on my nose?

I am your knight-ess in shining armor!!
